About Me

My name is Sarah. I am a certified nutritionist, a wife and mom of two girls, aged 17 and 11. I have been living in California for the last twenty years. I enjoy reading, baking, and spending time with my friends. I have come to appreciate the beauty of California, and my family and I frequently go for hikes and bike rides. I love animals, and my children and I have been fostering kittens from our local SPCA for the last five years. So far, we have fostered more than 35 kittens.

Ever since I can remember I have struggled with weight. I come from a South Asian family where my mother’s love language was cooking, and a huge part of our lives centered around food. Unfortunately, it wasn’t until I reached my highest weight after my girls were born, did I really learn about balanced nutrition. In 2016, I experienced some health issues and that was my wake- up call. My daughters were two and seven and they depended on me, both physically and as a role model. I vowed to take better care of myself. The following year and a half, I lost close to 50 pounds and completely changed my mind set and habits regarding food. I realized that in the past, my reason for losing weight was to “look good”, and not necessarily to feel better, have more energy and improve mental clarity. Even though my health issues were not related to my weight, they still propelled me to make better decisions about my health. Now I focus more on how I feel and how much energy I have during the day rather than how I look.

In 2020, during the pandemic, I became a certified nutrition coach hoping to help other women reach their weight loss goals. In 2021, I began working at Jenny Craig as a weight loss consultant. I loved working with my clients and felt so proud when they achieved their goals. I learned how to communicate with my clients and work around their needs. My experience at Jenny Craig taught me that everyone is different and thus has their own unique way of dealing with the process of weight loss. A number of my clients at JC were men and women over the age of 60, and from them I learned that it is never too late to make your health a priority. I also realized how much you benefit in your later years by beginning your health journey in your thirties and forties.

At the end of 2023, I decided to embark on private weight loss consulting. My method is simple. I believe in small lifestyle changes leading to overall health. I do not believe that you must stop eating foods you love or foods from your culture to lose weight. I believe that I can work with you to figure out ways to incorporate all your favorite foods and still be able to lose weight. When you drastically change your eating habits and eliminate everything you love from your diet, chances are you will not be able to sustain your weight loss and you will eventually fall back into your old habits.

When I was overweight, I felt tired, irritable, and uncomfortable. My self-confidence was at an all-time low. Now I have more energy and I feel good about my appearance. I don’t shy away from social occasions or from trying new activities. I can help you feel that way too. I can help you create a sustainable weight loss program for yourself. I can teach you how to take care of yourself now and in the future for an overall sense of health and wellbeing.
